Musical makeover

An evening of jazz was held at a retirement complex in Henley to celebrate a £250,000

An evening of jazz was held at a retirement complex in Henley to celebrate a £250,000 refurbishment. About 100 people, including residents, attended the celebration at Thamesfield, off Wargrave Road. They were served champagne and canapés. The Rivertime Boat Trust’s boat Rivertime took guests on short river cruises. A jazz band performed in a marquee on the lawns. Guests included Henley Mayor Julian, pictured right with his wife Garbriele and Retirement Villages’ executive chairman Nigel Welby. The makeover include redecoration and new carpets and furnishings in the communal areas. Thamesfield manager Sophia Lawrence, above with guests, said: “To reflect the hotel-style service levels we have also appointed a dedicated concierge to book taxis, sort out appointments or restaurant bookings, source local information, arrange refreshments and generally provide extra ‘front of house’ support.” Mr Welby said: “This village has always been a very special jewel in the Retirement Villages’ crown and we continue to develop and invest in our range of services to residents here.”
