A LECTURE on the 100th anniversary of the First World War will be held at Henley town hall on Tuesday (7.45pm).
It will be given by historian Mike Willoughby, who is leading the Lest We Forget Project to get have three new war memorials to the town’s “forgotten” servicemen.
Mr Willoughby, from Woodcote, launched the project after discovering there are more than 70 soldiers with connections to Henley who are not named on any of the town’s nine existing memorials.
The Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded the project £8,200, so it now needs only another £3,300 in donations.
Mr Willoughby’s talk has been organised by the Henley Archaeological and Historical Group, which will also be holding meetings at the Christ Church Centre in Reading Road on February 4 and March 4.
