PHILIP SMITH gave a talk on the history of the Woodclyffe allotments at this month’s meeting of Wargrave Local History Society.
Geoff Briggs spoke about the Silver family, who lived in the village in the 18th century.
Members then watched a film made by the Henley Standard of last month’s floods which featured homes underwater in Loddon Drive and Willow Lane. The society’s next meeting will be on Tuesday, April 8 (8pm) when Elizabeth Hazeldine will speak about the Fillets Court estate, a 14th century house on the site of what is now Phyllis Court in Henley.
Meetings are held at the old pavilion in Recreation Road. For more information, call Peter Delaney on 0118 940 3121 or visit www.wargrave history.org.uk
