The world’s most successful sports club

AS you step into Leander Club’s headquarters on the banks of the Thames, the pride in its achievements becomes immediately apparent.

The first sight that greets visitors is the honours boards, which take up a whole wall in the main reception and celebrate the club’s most recent successes.

These include several victories at last year’s Henley Royal Regatta, which was the most successful in the club’s 196-year history.

The Leander A crew won the Prince of Wales Challenge Cup while crews containing Leander rowers won the Grand Challenge Cup, Ladies’ Challenge Plate, Remenham Challenge Cup, Queen Mother Challenge Cup, the men’s quadruple sculls and the Princess Grace Challenge Cup.

The boards also commemorate the club’s performance at the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics, at which its rowers won four gold, three silver and six bronze medals.
