Golf club cuts power bills

GORING and Streatley Golf Club has fitted 68 solar panels to the roof of its clubhouse.

They will generate 15,000 units of electricity a year, which will be used to power the club.

The panels were installed free by Renewable Energy Investments, which the club will pay for the electricity at a discounted rate for a period of 20 years.

Manager Mike Evans said: “It was a zero investment for us so it was a very easy decision to make.

“We expect to save hundreds of thousands of pounds over the course of its life. We have had really positive feedback from members.”
