JULIE BRICKNALL gave a talk to members of Henley Rotary Club about her year volunteering in the developing world.
The 28-year-old was sponsored by the club during her life-changing adventure which she spent in Africa, India, Malaysia, Australia and Southeast Asia.
Julie, a former manager of Boots in Bell Street, Henley, was a teacher in Africa and a farmer in the Philippines and helped to run a dog sanctuary in Thailand.
In Cambodia she helped run a drop-in centre where children are taken off the streets, given a shower and taught a few games before, heartbreakingly, being returned to the streets.
Mark Harling gave the vote of thanks and all the Rotarians were impressed by Julie’s bravery. For detals visit www.myticket totheworld.com
