THE Mayor of Henley gave a speech to the town’s air cadets during their annual inspection.
Martin Akehurst joined Squadron Leader Stephen New, deputy commander of Thames Valley wing, for the ceremony at their headquarters in Friday Street.
The 10 boys and girls lined up and stood to attention while Councillor Akehurst and his wife Glynis chatted with them about life in the unit.
Sqn Ldr New followed the Mayor and Mayoress to inspect the cadets’ kit, accompanied by warrant officer Scott Anderson. Also present were Deputy Mayor Jeni Wood and a number of parents.
Cllr Akehurst said: “I strongly urge any youngsters in Henley to join the cadets. It’s great fun to be involved in and will give you experiences that you will treasure all your life.”
