Bowls club back in competition thanks to new members
PEPPARD Bowls Club is celebrating a successful year after gaining 11 new members.
President Elaine Roberts said the start of the season had been difficult because several members had left and the club had to pull out of all league games. But with the new members the club hoped to rejoin leagues when the new season started in April.
Mrs Roberts said: “Nine members have signed up and another two will join at the start of next season so we consider that to be very successful.” Thirty-nine members and their partners attended the club’s annual end-of-season lunch at the Great House in Sonning on Thursday last week. They enjoyed a three-course meal followed by bingo and a quiz.
Mrs Roberts said: “The lunch was wonderful. It was the first time we had been to the Great House and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.”
