ABOUT 360 people attended Henley Rugby Club’s Star Ball.

A marquee decorated like a nightclub was erected on the club’s pitch at Dry Leas for the black-tie occasion.

Guests enjoyed a three-course dinner followed by dancing to seven-piece jazz band Groovestone and DJ sets. Between each course of the meal, there was a charity auction hosted by TV antiques expert Jonty Hearnden. Lots included a bespoke watch donated by Henley watch company Bremont and a 10-day stay at a villa in South Africa. A silent auction also took place.

The total raised has not yet been confirmed but the proceeds will go towards community sport projects and the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust.

Organiser Martin Leach said: “It was a very successful night. Everyone who attended was very complimentary as they loved the food and liked the new marquee layout.”
