THE local heat of Rotary’s Youth Speaks public speaking competition will take place at the Kenton Theatre in Henley on Monday.

Four teams will compete in the intermediate group (ages 11 to 13), two from Reading Blue Coat School and one each from Chiltern Edge and Gillotts schools.

Two teams each from The Henley College, Reading Blue Coat School and Chiltern Edge School, together with the St Lawrence Saints, from Waltham St Lawrence, will make up the seven entries in the senior group (ages 14 to 17).

As well as team prizes, there are individual awards from the best individual speakers in each group and for the best overall chairperson and the best overall proposer of the vote of thanks.

Henley Mayor Elizabeth Hodgkin will make the presentations and the winning team in each group will go forward to the zone final in Marlow on February 7.
