Rethink on scout hut

A NEW working group will consider plans to build a hut in Benson for the village’s scouts, cubs, guides and brownies.

The Baden-Powell hut would be built in Bertie West field to replace the existing scout hut in Littleworth Road.

Last year, the parish council withdrew an application for outline planning permission to build a “low-profile” building following opposition from neighbours, who claimed the development would lead to more traffic.

Councillor Dave Rushton said: “We have set up a working group to look at the future of the field and consider all the options. We will be starting with a clean sheet of paper.”

The group includes two residents, three parish councillors and two representatives of the scouts and guides.
