Appeal for guides volunteer

AN assistant leader is needed by Watlington guides.

AN assistant leader is needed by Watlington guides.

Annie Bowman, who currently fills the role, is moving to Frankfurt with her family in July.

She has been volunteering for the group since she moved to Watlington about nine years ago and her daughter, now 16, joined the brownies.

Mrs Bowman, 42, of Springfield Close, said: “The thing I will miss most is the girls. They are sometimes almost a bit uncontrollable but only because they so happy.

“They are incredibly lovely and have such fun, which is brilliant.”

She has many happy memories of trips with the girls, including one when some cows wandered into a field where they were camping.

Mrs Bowman said: “They tripped over the guy ropes and there were cow pats everywhere. We had to shoo them away while keeping all the girls out of the way.”

The guides meet at Watlington Primary School on Tuesdays during term time from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

If you would like to volunteer, call Mrs Bowman on (01491) 614669 or 07515 824716.
