The annual event, held at the Kenton Theatre on June 8, will also feature singer-songwriter Megan Henwood, from Henley.

A reception will be held at Hotel du Vin before the main event, which is organised by Henley Rotary Club.

There will be a raffle, with prizes including Steward’s tickets for Henley Royal Regatta, two tickets for the Sunday of the Henley Festival and two tickets to see a show at the Mill at Sonning worth £50.

Event secretary John Grout said: “It is probably the biggest fund-raiser for local charities in the town. The event should raise about £7,000 and this year it will go to Riverside Counselling Service in Henley. We hope people will turn out to support it.”

The Midnight Matinée has been running since 1960. Mr Grout added: “Over the years it is something that tends to be forgotten but they are all for local charities, we don’t support national charities.”

Last year’s event raised £4,125 for the Henley Youth Centre and the previous record was £10,000 for Upper Thames Rowing Club.

Tickets cost £20 and are available from the Kenton Theatre box office on (01491) 575698 or visit www.kentontheatre.co.uk
