THE musical director of Henley Choral Society is leaving after seven years.

Will Dawes, 33, conducted his final concert when the group performed Verdi’s Requiem at Reading Concert Hall alongside the Southern Sinfonia and professional soloists.

Mr Dawes said he was leaving to pursue other options including his career with early music group Stile Antico.

He said: “This was my first professional conducting job and the audiences in Henley have always been very enthusiastic and supportive. Henley will always be special to me.”

Mr Dawes will be replaced by Ben Goodson, who was conductor of the Lea Singers in Hertfordshire.
