New Lions Club president installed

ALAN LOVEGROVE, from North Stoke, is the new president of Goring, Woodcote and District Lions Club.

ALAN LOVEGROVE, from North Stoke, is the new president of Goring, Woodcote and District Lions Club.

He took over from Chris Stevens at a garden party to mark the club’s 32nd charter at the Swan Hotel in Streatley, which was attended by members, partners and guests.

Mr Stevens thanked members for their support over his year during which just over £15,000 was raised in charitable funds, much of it from the Lions 10km run.

More than £11,000 was handed out to needy individuals and projects, including the Footsteps Foundation (£2,250), Woodcote Primary School (£700), St John Ambulance (£540), Goring Primary School £500, Greenshoots and Woodcote Primary School (all £500), Carpmael CharitableTurst (£450), Water Aid, Woodcote Youth Club, Goring Youth Club, Sonning Common Youth Club, Woodcote Volunteers (all £400), Lions Eye Health project (£300) and Lions District Youth Trust Fund (£300), Lions International Disaster Fund, Goring and Goring Heath scouts and guides and Langtree School (all £200), Woodcote holiday club (£120), Nomad and Rainbow children’s centre, Goring,(£80) and Goring Youth Club (£50).
