Village hall gets boost

CHECKENDON residents have raised more than £1,500 for their village hall this year.

CHECKENDON residents have raised more than £1,500 for their village hall this year.

They raised the money by organising a series of community events.

A St George’s Day quiz in April raised £837 and a spring bluebell walk raised £290.

The village hall committee also organised a plant sale which made £420.

Of this, £34 came from the 1st Checkendon Brownies’ takings and £141 came from Checkendon Pre-School.

The proceeds will go towards the upkeep of the building.
