Children’s creepy challenge

TWO “witches” visited children at Sonning Common library for a book reading.

Rosemary House and Carol Evans, from the Chiltern Players, wore costumes as part of the “creepy house” summer reading challenge.

They read stories about witches to the group of 30 children and parents before flying off on a broomstick.

The children then made badges, bookmarks, finger puppets and pompom figures, all based on a witches theme.

“Creepy Stories” are being read at the library by members of the Chiltern Players every Saturday this month at 10am to help keep children under 10 reading during the summer holidays.

The challenge is for them to read at least six books and visit the library three times before mid-September.

Each visit will be rewarded with stickers for a Creepy House poster. At the end of the challenge, the successful children will receive a medal and certificate.
