ABOUT 10,000 people attended a families day at RAF Benson.

There were aerial displays during the afternoon from the Thales Wildcat Aerobatic Display Team, the Blades, BBMF Spitfire and RAF Falcons as well as rotary displays by the Merlin, Sea King and Chinook helicopters.

Static aircraft from across the world were on display alongside activities including a Typhoon simulator, fun fair and laser tag.

A party was held in the Puma Force hangar during the evening.

Station Commander Nigel Colman said: “Families day is an opportunity for personnel to say ‘thank-you’ to our families for their unerring support.

“The demands on our personnel are as high as ever and without their support we simply couldn’t do our jobs as well as we hope we do.”
