Lottery disappointment for Henley skate park fundraisers

AN application for a £50,000 grant towards the cost of a new skate park in Henley has failed.

AN application for a £50,000 grant towards the cost of a new skate park in Henley has failed.

The Henley Skate Park Initiative applied to the Lottery-funded Sport England Inspired Facilities fund earlier this year but was turned down due a lack of matching funds.

Henley Mayor Stefan Gawrysiak said: ?Sport England thought the application was very strong and the only bit they concentrated on was the fact that skate park group had not got any substantial funding from other stakeholders. It is a disappointment but we are determined to pursue this project for the young people of Henley and their parents.?

The Initiative wants to replace the existing skate park in Makins recreation ground with a new £250,000 park twice as big.
