A CHARITY quiz night at Goring Heath parish hall raised £400 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

It included live performances by ukulele group No Direction, from Henley, and youth singing group Distinct. No Direction also provided a live music round in which they played the introductions to popular songs.

The winning team were KC and the Sunshiners, from Reading, who took home a small trophy.

About 50 people attended the event, which was organised by 17-year-old Eve Holland, a former pupil of Langtree School in Woodcote, as part of her A level extended project.

Her father Mike is a member of No Direction and acted as quizmaster.

Eve, from Whitchurch Hill, now studies at the Downs School in Compton and chose to support Macmillan as she hopes to become a nurse.
