MORE than 50 people took part in a morning of clearing leaves at St Mary’s Church and Mill Green in Wargrave.

Residents turned up with rakes and wheelbarrows for the annual tidy-up.

They were joined by staff from Beechwood Tree Care, of Highland Farm, who brought along leaf blowers, a heavy-duty lawnmower and a leaf vacuum cleaner.

Volunteer Anne Whittaker provided refreshments including tea, coffee and bacon sandwiches.

Organiser Bob Austen said: “The work was completed in record time thanks to the recent dry conditions, fine weather, good morale and the large team from Beechwood Tree Care.

“There was another good turnout this year and the green will look tidy now until the spring.

“A big thank-you to all who came along to help, especially Neil Wilson and his team at Beechwood Tree Care who did a magnificent job for the village.”
