Women to the fore at Leander Club dinner

MORE than 100 members and athletes attended Leander Club’s annual end-of-season dinner.

MORE than 100 members and athletes attended Leander Club’s annual end-of-season dinner.

Jeremy Randall, who was elected club president in September, took the chair.

The guest of honour was Dame Di Ellis, former chairwoman of British Rowing, accompanied by her husband John.

She recalled that she was one of the first women to be elected a member of Leander and said how pleased she was to see the club elect its first female captain, Debbie Flood, earlier this year.Each table had one of the seven trophies that Leander won at this year’s Henley Royal Regatta as well as the victor ludorum trophy from the British Championships, which was loan for the occasion.
