RESIDENTS of Checkednon contributed 436 hats to this year’s Big Knit scheme.

Their efforts raised £4,000 for Age UK’s winter warmth appeal to help elderly people pay their heating costs.

The charity runs the annual Big Knit in partnership with the drinks firm Innocent.

Participants make miniature hats which the company places on its bottles before giving money in return.
