Henley in Transition call for action

MEMBERS of an environmental campaign group staged an event calling for action on climate change.

Henley in Transition had a stall in Market Place on Saturday where they handed out leaflets to shoppers before unfurling banners on the steps of the town hall and holding alarm clocks to symbolise their message that it is time to ?wake up? to global warming.

Justin Bowles, a member of the group, said: ?This event ties in with the climate march in London on March 7. It is called Time to Act and the purpose is to wake up our politicians and get them to take more aggressive action on climate change. The response was very positive. We gave out 150 to 200 leaflets and had to rush off for a reprint in the middle because we ran out.

?We have come across a few climate sceptics but generally people are concerned but not quite sure how they can do something about the problem. We hope Henley in Transition can give some ideas about how, as individuals, you can do your bit to tackle climate change.?

A film on climate change will be shown by the group at King?s Arms Barn on Monday at 7.30pm. This will be followed by a discussion.
