Volunteers sweep the streets in Goring

MEMBERS and supporters of Goring Gap in Bloom carried out their annual spring clean.

More than 30 volunteers walked around Goring and Streatley clearing rubbish from pavements, parks and grass verges. They worked for two hours before returning to Goring Parish Council’s offices for tea and home-made cakes.

The morning was organised by residents Maureen Whitcher and Andrew Lea. Stephanie Bridle, co-organiser of Goring Gap in Bloom, said: “We had a pretty good haul at the end. The litter was particularly bad around Reading Road as there were lots of coffee cups that people in passing cars had discarded. There were lots of parents and children joining in, including one family who’ve been coming for years. Everyone enjoyed it.”

Another litter sweep will take place in the autumn.
