Phyllis Court Club would be 'ideal site' for gym

PHYLLIS Court Club is the ideal site for a new gym in Henley, says a former member of LA Fitness.

PHYLLIS Court Club is the ideal site for a new gym in Henley, says a former member of LA Fitness. Nick Roullier believes the private members’ club should revisit its proposals for a pool, gym and health centre, which it scrapped in January. It had secured planning permission for the scheme but decided it was not financially viable.

Mr Roullier, whose wife Gabbi runs the No Limits fitness centre, off Reading Road, has asked the club to reconsider so that a local operator could move in and run it.

He said: “We have spoken to the club secretary and registered an interest but unless members are in favour of the idea it will keep being voted out. I think Phyllis Court is a perfect location.” Phyllis Court Club has set up a working group to re-evaluate the idea and a special members’ meeting will be held later this year to decide whether to proceed. None of the club’s management could be reached for comment.
