Procession is saved

THE Christmas Eve torchlight procession through Goring has been saved.

THE Christmas Eve torchlight procession through Goring has been saved.

Organisers warned it might be scrapped unless a professional event manager volunteered to help run it.

Now the role has been filled but 40 more volunteer marshals are still needed.

Hundreds of people with blazing torches march through Goring high street to Streatley Meadows for a bonfire and carol service.

This year the road between the villages will be shut from 5.45pm to 7.30pm, half an hour longer than usual, for safety reasons.

To volunteer, call Ron Bridle on (01491) 875283.
