Youth club has new leader

THE youth club in Sonning Common has a new leader.

THE youth club in Sonning Common has a new leader.

Charmaine Hill, 34, of Lea Road, has replaced Sue Carson at Club SC, which is based at Chiltern Edge School.

She is covering for Becky Jenkins who is on maternity leave and is not due to return until November.

Mrs Hill, who has lived in the village for eight years, said: “I really enjoy it. There is a really great mix of kids.

Our Wednesday group is quite small and we’re trying to offer activities that appeal to all kinds.”

The club runs 50 weeks a year on Wednesday evenings for children in years six, seven and eight and Thursday evenings for years nine, 10 and 11. Entry costs 50p per person.

Mrs Hill has arranged a number of special activities including fencing, karaoke and a milkshake bar.

Next month there will be a movie night and a fashion show and on November 25 the club will host a concert.

Mrs Hill, who works at a youth club in Caversham, said she might be prepared to stay on at Club SC as a support worker when Ms Jenkins returns.

Meanwhile, the Club SC management committee is looking for new members.

The annual meeting will take place at Daisy’s at the Dog in Peppard Common on September 30 at 6.30pm. The meeting is open to the public.
