FORTY members of the Henley Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society attended a fund-raising lunch at the French Horn in Sonning.

They enjoyed a two-course meal and then took part in a raffle with prizes donated by the Mill at Sonning, river operator Hobbs of Henley, the Strada restaurant, florist Bluebells of Henley and Danesfield House Hotel in Medmenham.

The event raised about £800 towards the society’s plans for a £10,000 refurbishment of its rehearsal studio behind the Kenton Theatre in New Street, Henley.

Chairwoman Julie Huntington said: “It was a fantastic afternoon — the weather was perfect and showed the best side of such a beautiful venue. It was a great chance to enjoy ourselves while raising money.”
