Cooking awards

FIVE members of the 2nd Goring and Streatley British Boy Scouts have been presented with their “master cook” badges

FIVE members of the 2nd Goring and Streatley British Boy Scouts have been presented with their “master cook” badges.

Jack Papierowski, Josh Meads, Sebastian Avery, Abigail Papierowski and James Owen had to prepare a family dinner and bake a cake and a loaf of bread.

They used traditional cooking methods such as open wood fires and mud ovens. Their efforts included shepherd’s pies, casseroles and spotted dick.

Group scout master David Cooksley said: “It was another great challenge for these young people. They seem to love doing it and it’s a useful way to improve their life skills. The harder I make the challenges, the greater they rise to meet them.”

The group is welcoming new members from six to 18 years old. For more information or to join you can email davidcooksley@hotmail.com
