EVERY year, Hedfas is invited by The Henley College and the Piggott School in Wargrave to view the artwork of their sixth-form students.
This summer, Hedfas selected nine works from six students for submission to a national competition organised by the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies and the Royal Society of British Artists.
Judging usually takes place in late autumn but in the meantime these pictures provided a wonderful display at a Hedfas meeting held at Phyllis Court Club in Henley on September 17.
All the students received a cheque for £50 and a certificate from the Nadfas area chairman, Dory Thompson.
Nationally, a total of 348 pictures were submitted from 89 schools and from these 22 were finally selected to be exhibited at the prestigious Mall Galleries in London in the spring.
Two pictures submitted by Hedfas were included in this final selection — both by pupils at Piggott School.
They are Marbles by Tara Bartlett and Peppers in Cellophane by Claire Thurgood.
Hedfas was delighted to have selected two “winners” and warmly congratulated both students.
Their work will be on display in the Lloyd’s Register Gallery from February 11 to March 11 and the Mall Gallery from March 17 to April 2.
Our other chosen artists were Holly Maddock and Holly-May Lynch from The Henley College and Piggott students Eleanor Povey and Jayne Walters.
