GENERAL Sir Mike Jackson, former head of the British Army, spoke at a dinner at the River and Rowing Museum in Henley.

Sir Mike, 71, one of the most high-profile generals since the Second World War, spoke about his career at the fund-raiser organised by the Henley 100 Club on Thursday last week.

He retired in 2006 after a 45-year-old career in which he completed tours in Northern Ireland and the Balkans and is known for his tough talking and uncompromising style.

He spoke about his experiences and answered questions, including some about the current problems between Isis and the West.
