Party for historians

WARGRAVE Local History Society held its Christmas party at the Old Pavilion, off Recreation Road.

WARGRAVE Local History Society held its Christmas party at the Old Pavilion, off Recreation Road.

Members decked out the meeting room  with festive decorations and Wendy Smith served home-made mulled wine and mince or apple and blackberry pies.

Chairman Peter Halman gave a presentation on “old-fashioned Christmases”, including Stonehenge, the Romans and more modern Christian celebrations.  He ended with a reading from A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, January 12, when Phil Davis will give a talk called “Families and aspects of the history of Hennerton”. 

Meetings take place at the Old Pavilion, starting at 8pm.
