ON his recent retirement as district cub scout leader for Thames Chiltern District, Peter Phillips was presented with a framed set of photographs and a “thank-you” message. In four decades, Mr Phillips has been very active within the district, serving as cub leader, assistant district commissioner (leader training), assistant district commissioner for cub scouts and district cub scout leader.

He has organised and run many camps and district and county activities for cubs over many years.

He was awarded the Silver Acorn in 2006.

More than 100 beavers, cubs, scouts and leaders from the district attended the presentation at 1st Goring Heath’s headquarters, where Mr Phillips began his scouting career 40 years ago and ended it as assistant cub leader.

The framed gift had been circulated to all the cub packs where it was signed by the cubs and their leaders.
