AT the March meeting the club welcomed the news that the promised lift was being installed at Badgemore Park Golf Club, making life easier for some of our members.

Our speaker was Sarah Lane, from the charity Nomad, a youth and community project based at the d:two centre in Market Place.

Sarah told us that having started with young people, the brief had widened to cover families as well. With the equivalent of three-and-half full-time workers, the charity relies heavily on volunteers in its varied work.

An adult learning programme, support with school attendance, a life skills programme and monitoring, home visits and after school events such as a youth club with football etc. are among the work carried out by the team. Our members were so impressed that it was agreed that an immediate donation be made to the charity.
