THERE is a hearty welcome awaiting anyone wanting to join the club, which is situated in Albert Road park in Caversham and opens for the new season tomorrow (Saturday) at 11am.
There is a large car park and the club is well served by public transport.
Our six-rink green is one of the best in the area and we play ladies’ and gentlemen’s matches and mixed ones too.
But please do not feel intimidated as we are a friendly club.
If you thought that you could never play bowls, don’t worry, the rules are easy and we have male and female instructors. The club will be holding an open afternoon on Sunday, May 1 from 2pm when members and instructors will be at the clubhouse to welcome you. Bowls will be provided and we only ask that you wear flat shoes.
Our season’s open evenings will begin on Friday, May 6 from 6pm. Bowls will be provided. Refreshments will be available after each session. Bowls is a healthy and sociable sport, so come and make new friends, learn a game that has been part of our heritage since Elizabeth I’s reign and enjoy tea, biscuits and cake after a match. As a member, you can also enjoy a drink at our clubhouse bar.
Bowls provides exercise, fresh air, good company, stimulation and new friends all rolled into one and just what the doctor ordered!
We hope to see you soon. If you cannot make any of the above dates, please call Roger Palmer on 0118 947 8887 or visit our website, www.cavershambowlsclub. org.uk
