Sonning Primary School has received a £1,130 grant towards a new playground and sports facilities. The money was donated by the Berkshire Masonic Charity as Dr Simon Tull, a past master of the Pillars of Friendship Lodge in Sindlesham, has a son at the school. The school’s parent teaching association has collected £36,000 towards its £100,000 target since it started fund-raising in September. The school has also applied for planning permission for a new entrance and reception, along with staff and disabled toilets, following the demolition of the existing toilets. It said: “While previous works have increased the capacity of the school, this phase of work will address security issues and improve accessibility. It will create a more secure school entrance and allow better surveillance at the front of the school, while external works will create a secure access route with physical separation between pedestrians and vehicles.”
