Policeman honoured

A POLICEMAN from Henley has received a commendation from Thames Valley Police.

Sgt Pat Sims was one of eight officers honoured for their investigation into an armed robbery at a pub in Benson which led to the imprisonment of two men.

A chef was bound to a chair during the raid at the Three Horseshoes in Oxford Road, Benson, in July 2011.

The robbers were caught by police after an 80mph chase that ended when they crashed their getaway car, which they had stolen from the pub.Thomas Somarakis and Benjamin Sinclair were jailed for a total of 20 years in March last year.

The investigating officers were praised for the professional way they handled the case.
