Weather disrupts sport

STORMS disrupted sports fixtures in and around Henleyat the weekend.

Henley Rugby Club’s match against Cinderford at Dry Leas on Saturday had to be stopped for eight minutes due to a heavy rain and a hail storm. The wind was so strong that a corner flag was uprooted and hurled towards the half-way line.

Play did continue and the Hawks succumbed to a 12-5 defeat in their National League 1 clash.

Rain affected many football fixtures over the weekend with only 12 of the 45 matches in the Reading & District Sunday League being played.

Henley Town Football Club haven’t played any first team games at the Triangle Ground in Mill Lane since December 17 due to flooding.
