Governor quits as chairman for national role

THE chairman of governors at Gillotts School in Henley has stood down to take up a new role helping to improve the performance of schools nationwide.

Nick Walden has been made a national leader of governance by the National College for Teaching and Leadership.

His role will be to support governing bodies at schools by, for example, helping them convert to an academy, as Gillotts has done.

Mr Walden, of Cromwell Road, Henley, will remain on the board of governors at Gillotts, which he joined 11 years ago and became chairman two years later.

He said: “It was the right time to stand down. I have probably done it for long enough.
