Estate owner leads protest

THE owner of the Hardwick Estate in Whitchurch is to lead a protest in London on Thursday.

Sir Julian Rose and his supporters will gather outside the Polish embassy in support of the country’s farmers.

He is president of the International Coalition to Protect the Polish Countryside, a charity founded by his partner Jadwiga Lopata.

The couple say the Polish government is forcing farmers off their land and selling it to big companies that grow genetically modified crops.

Sir Julian declared the Hardwick Estate a GM-free zone in December 2012.
