Former Henley mayor Tony Lane dies

FORMER Henley mayor Tony Lane died today (Saturday).

Mr Lane, 87, had felt unwell on Thursday and was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

He had been living at the Acacia Lodge care home in Quebec Road, Henley.

Mr Lane was a member of Henley Town Council between 1965 and 2002. He was mayor for a record four terms between 1971 and 2002.

He was awarded an MBE in 1995 for his contribution to the community.
