Fund-raiser dies at 68

CHARITY worker Evelyne Philpot died on Saturday, aged 68.

Mrs Philpot, of Phyllis Court Drive, Henley, spent more than 30 years of her life fund-raising for charities including the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, Guide Dogs for the Blind and Sue Ryder.

She was the president of the Marlow branch of women’s club Inner Wheel and the final president of the Henley branch before it was disbanded.

In January she was given the Margarette Golding Award, the highest accolade presented by the organisation.

A minute’s silence was observed in memory of Mrs Philpot at Tuesday’s meeting of the Henley Rotary Club.
