War stories required

RESIDENTS of Goring have been asked to share their families’ First World War stories in time for this year’s centenary.

The Goring and Streatley Local History Society is carrying out research for an exhibition at the village hall on November 1 and 2.

The commemorative event will look at the lives of men from the village who fought on the front line. It will also explore the impact of the war on the local economy, farming, women’s lives, schools and the railway.

The society plans to publish a booklet to coincide with the exhibition.

Anyone with memorabilia, photographs or anecdotes is asked to get in touch. Documents and photos can be scanned and returned.
