New buses for Peppard

SIX new buses have been introduced on the route between Peppard and Reading.

Reading Buses has invested £1.1 million in the vehicles used on the 2/2a route, which it has renamed Lime 2 after their colour.

The buses run on compressed natural gas, making them carbon neutral, and offer passengers free wi-fi access, information screens and space for wheelchairs and up to three pushchairs.

The route is the first in Oxfordshire to have automatic announcements to help passengers with poor vision.

David Hammond, chairman of Peppard Parish Council, said: “We welcome the extended timetable and the fact that the new buses are carbon neutral.

“On first sight, they appear very attractive.”
