TV antiques expert helps charity lunch raise £1,700

AUCTIONEER Elaine Binning was the guest speaker at a charity lunch at Goring and Streatley Golf Club.

She entertained 82 members of the West Berkshire branch of the NSPCC Lunch Club by talking about her work and then challenging her audience to value some antiques.

Mrs Binning, who works for Newbury auctioneers Dreweatts & Bloomsbury and appears on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow, said: “I wanted to be involved particularly because the NSPCC is such a good cause.

“It has been well supported for years and I hope that support continues.

“I know a lot of the members but I’ve never done anything with the group before. A lot of them come to the sales days and have bought and sold at auctions for years.
