Diseased lime tree to have branches removed

A DISEASED lime tree at Wargrave Tennis Club is to have all its branches removed.

Wargrave Parish Council has agreed to pay for the work at the club in Recreation Road.

The tree has root rot, or dieback, a fungus which attacks the leaves and could eventually kill it.

It is hoped that reducing the tree to just its main stem will stop the disease spreading but if this does not work the tree may have to be felled.

The council has asked Beechwood Tree Care to carry out the work and also to fell a sycamore tree at the Woodclyffe allotments and trim another tree in Beverley Gardens. The cost of the work could be as much as £700.
