Six-year-old runs marathon distance in aid of charity
A BOY from Henley ran a marathon distance to raise money for charity, writes David White.
Harry Maggs, who is six, completed the 26.2 miles by running around his garden with a pedometer and then up and down the length of Fair Mile, where he lives.
He raised almost £700 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation, which grants wishes for seriously and terminally ill children and provides entertainment in hospitals and hospices across the country.
Harry, who attends Moulsford Preparatory School, was supported by his parents Charlotte and David and sisters Maisie, seven, and Lulu, four, and brother Benjy, three.
He said: “I completed my monster marathon on Sunday, January 12 at 8.15 in the morning. It was very cold and I fell over three times on the ice. It felt epic to finish. I ran through a finish line of bunting and my family all cheered me on.”
