Pub team’s cycle ride in aid of skate park

TEN cyclists from Sonning Common are to take part in a sponsored bike ride to Brighton in aid of the village’s skate park project.

The team will be led by Robert Blues, landlord of the Butcher’s Arms pub in Blounts Court Road, who organises a charity event once a year.

He will be joined by nine regulars including Russell King, Vincent Panel, Nicola Thomas, Chris Buckett, Scott Jackson, Peter Sheen, Tom Franklin and Toby Williams.

They will set off from the pub at 7am next Saturday (April 26) and expect to reach Brighton seafront in under nine hours. All the money raised will go towards the new £95,000 skate park, which is due to be built at Bishopswood Sports Ground.

Mr Blues, who runs the pub with his wife Ellie, said: “A number of our regulars have grown up in Sonning Common and are now of an age where they can remember the idea of a skate park first being talked about when they were teenagers. Now they want to finally see it happen.
