Village footballer and landscape gardener

A FORMER footballer and landscape gardener from Sonning Common has died following a short illness.

Nick Potter, who was 69, and his wife Val used to live in Lambourne Road and he played for the village football team during the Seventies.

He was also half of a landscape gardening partnership with his friend Keith Hedges, which ran for 17 years.

The Potters moved to Cotes d’Armor in France in 1992 but returned to England in September 2012 and set up home in Devizes.

Family friend Mike Willoughby, who played in the same football team as Mr Potter, said: “When my wife Lesley and I moved into Sonning Common in 1969 Nick and Val lived next door but one to us.
